Maloof Master Bathroom
designed by Marina V. Phillips
Project Notes
MALOOF RESIDENCE-- Helene came to the Kitchen Galleries & Bathroom Galleries to remodel her outdated master bath. Her existing bath was small, lacked storage, counter space and adequate plumbing fixtures. Vinyl flooring needed a major facelift, so did the tile in the shower.
We started with reworking the overall space by moving the vanity and enlarging the size of the drawers and countertop. Next, the inaccessible linen closet was reworked into a tall linen cabinet with slide-out trays and extra shelving. This move provided the much needed storage and accessiblity. Old vinyl floor was replaced with beautiful ceramic tile set diagonally to give an optical illusion of a larger space. Smaller tiles of the shower floor gave way to one piece solid acrylic pan. The shower remained in its existing location, however, it underwent a major change as well. Busy wall tiles were replaced with larger designer tile of two tones and decorative border that runs around the main plumbing wall and becomes a backsplash of the vanity. Plumbing fixtures were carefully selected by the Customer and Designer, and included the main showerhead with multiple spray modes, a personal hand shower on a sliding bar, and massage body jets, much needed after a hard working day. A comfortable corner bench and a frameless glass enclosure completed the transformation.
The new master bath received designer touches throughout. The vanity received furniture feet, designer hardware and was topped with seamless, easy to maintain quartz material. The mirror was placed into a matching wood frame and now has a complete custom look with the light sconces installed directly on the mirror surface. The tall linen cabinet was also designed with furniture feet and designer hardware.
A real luxury in the new bathroom is an electric towel warmer. Now the towels stay warm and soft and ready to be used after a nice long shower! The towel warmer was specified with a digital timer, so when not in use it can be easily turned off and so saves energy.
Helene was great to work with. She made herself available for design appointments, trips to the tile and plumbing stores, and her input was extremely valuable. Helene is very happy with her new master bath. She says "It is the nicest room in the house!"

"5 Stars - I just love my new master bathroom!"
"I found Kitchen Galleries at a Home & Garden show several months ago and knew instantly that Marina was the designer I wanted to work with. She carefully listened to what I wanted, offered suggestions, and helped create the master bath of my dreams. She was very easy to work with and helped me through the process. As a first-time remodeler, I had no idea what to expect, and she couldn't have made it easier. I would definitely recommend her to anyone thinking about remodeling!"
